Generation Three of Validated Lampman Information

Two Primary Sons descendancy will begin in Generation Three. They are first Johann Peter Lampman and second, Johann Caspar Lampman.

Johann Peter (1011) was confirmed March 23, 1712 at Queensberg (West Camp Lutheran Church), New York. He was Naturalized or took an Oath of Allegiance at Albany on January 17th, 1715/16. John Peter is listed on the Kingsberry and Livingstone Debtor Lists in 1718, 1719, 1721 and 1726. He married Johanna Elisabetha Planck at Nastau, New York on February 24, 1719.

In August of 1724 he was listed as head of the household, willing to remain in Germantown, presently Columbia County, New York. He and his father were both members of the Church Council in 1732 at Albany Lutheran Church. John Peter and his wife and children are listed in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church parish books in 1734 and he was a resident of Hoosick in 1745.
[Hoosac is the Indian name for "Great Basin", of which this area lay in a river valley.

They had ten children :

1. Peter (1132) b. July 1721, married Elizabet Schmitt and settled in the Mohawk Valley of New York.
2. Freiderich (1153) (The Loyalist). An entire section of the book "Imrpints on the Sands of Time is devoted to Freiderich and his legacy. The Canadian lines are well documented.
3. Catharina (1166) b. 1724, married Hendrik Jongh (Young) and lived near Hoosick, NY
4. Henrich (1170), b. 8-22-1727 married Marytje Schmitt, lived in Freehold, NY.
5. Johann Michael (1202) (Greg's fith great grandfather with more data to come at a later date)
6. Johannes Jurgen (1210), b. January 20, 1732, Albany, Albany Co., NY married Susann Litscher (Per Ivan Frank 3/2001)
7. Maria (1217), b. 4-21-1734, married Peter Schram.
8. Stephanus (1160) Th is line is also very well documented in Kellys book mentioned above.
9. Abraham
10. Elisabetha.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Johann Casper (1128) was born on 10/21/1705. He was baptized on 10/22/1705 in Stockheim, Germany. His wife was Elizabeth Rau/Rowe (1129) who he married in 1731 or shortly bofore. Their home was in Copake, now Columbia County, NY. "American Ancestry" by Hughs states that Caspar (1128) came from Holland and settled in Copake and had a son Peter of Craryville (near Copake) who died 1798 and had married Margaret Cook. In truth in the 1700's Holland was a part of the German Union, and so that is correct.

Proven children of John Caspar and Elizabeth (Rowe) Lampman are:

1. Elizabeth (1374) (E) b. 2/23/1732, no further record; Mary Barbara (1378) b. 1735 tombstone, b. 6/13/1734, baptized 6/16/1734 (A) (AF) and married 10/19/1755 (E) Arent Williams (1379). The record reads; Arent William Junkmann married Mareitgen Lantman. The tombstone reads ?? Mary Barbara, d. 3-18-1818 age 82.
2. Anna Margreta (2312) b. 2-23-1736 (AF) In (J) Pieter Lantman (1375) wife Margaretha were witnesses 9-22-1776 to bp. of Anna Margaretha (9699) to John Diedrick Schneider (9700) wife Anna who is probably (2312).
3. Martene (1130) b. 10-1741 (A) at T'bosch. (The Tar Camp) Very unexpectedly data was found in the Ruyter Papers (Canadian Achieves ? Ottawa) a reference that storekeeper Henry Ruyter had sold goods ca 1785 or earlier to a Martin Lampman. There is no other Martin than (1130) presently known.
The Arthur Kelley translation of the Zion (A) Church records states Casper Lampman (1128) and Elizabeth bp. 11-8-1741 Marlene instead of Marten (1130?).
4. John Caspar (1131) bp. 5-3-1744 (A) married Anna Mary Seeman (Simon) (7338).
5. Magdalena (1382) married David Williams (1383) 12-18-1759 (AM). The record reads: David Williams, born Duchess County married Magdalena Landtman of Livingston Manor.
6. Peter (1375) bp. 11-5-1749 (E), married Margaret Cook (1376). However the Tombstone: Niver Cemetery, Craryville, N.Y. states Peter (1375) wife Margaret d. 8-28-1838 age 87 years 6 mo. 23 days, i.e. born 1751. Hughes "American Ancestry" is noted for detail errors.
7. Anna (1377) bp. 5-31-1753 (E). The record states "parents? Caspar Lampman and Elizabeth Row". This is the one reference to her name Row. It is possible Anna Lampman (1377) is the Annatje Leeman who m. Jacobus Row (0890) 2-17-1785 in (K) where the record states both from Albany County. John Schmit (6822) and Anatje Lampman (1377) bp. (N) Gertruy (0232) b. 4-5-1797.
8. In addition from church and sponsorship records, especially since none would fit in the Peter Lampman (1011) descent, the following were their children ?? Catherina (1380), who married Hendrik J. Witbeck (1381).
9. Hendrick (1384) b. 5-24-1746, who married Susanna Simon (1338) b. 1754 d. 8-11-1825 TS Niver Cemetery.

Minutes of the Committee of Safety of the Manor of Livingston, Columbia County,N.Y. (N.Y.G. & B. Rec. Vol. 60 pp. 329, 331) states at meeting of Oct. 7, 1776that "Hendk (1384) and Casper (1131) Lambman were among those said to have signed the 'King's Book'," and at meeting of Oct. 14, 1776 that" ?????? Lantman and Caspar Lantman were among those said to have 'hussad' for the King". But most significant are all the baptisms from 1781 to 1794 and the 1790 census of Livingston Town, Columbia County, N.Y., Hendrick (1-2-7) and Caspirus, Jr. (1-3-5). Then too Hendrick Lantman and Casper Landsman were listed among the British prisoners of war (ibid. p. 240) Casparus Lantman, Jr. is listed as soldier in Col. P.R. Livingston's regiment 9-11-1778, and captured by the British (See Montgomery County archives). All the above indicates a clear switch of sides, even if preceded by some wavering of loyalties. (Data taken from "Imprints on the Sands of Time", and New York Archival Church Records Microfilm")

So if you trace your Lampman lineage, you are most likely related back to one of these two immigrant sons of Peter Lampman and his wife. These would be John Peter or John Casper Lampman. Other Lampmans came to the United States from Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and other countries later. No sure relationship has been produced to tie them into the lineage of Balthasar Lambmann, althought is entirely possible. Many of the Palatine immgrants were forced to stay in Britian, so there is a relationship there, just not documented as of yet; which includes Ireland. I have also noticed other Lampmans from Austria and Hungary as well. This does not surprise me due to people moving or driven out of their home due to wars, of which there were many.

Bernd Lambmann, who lives near Gedern, Hessen, Deutschland has identified that his ancestors ( I believe it was his great-grandparents or GR-GR, were shipped to Russia and later returned to the homeland. This was during the Catherine the Great relocation to Russia of Germans. This is well documented until war was coming.)
