Niels Hansen & Anne Margrethe Nielsdatter Family
Niels Larson was born on the about 1800, at Lynge Parish, Sorø Amt [Amt.= County]., Denmark. Ane Margrethe Nielsdatter was born unknown at this time in Denmark, most likely in the same or adjacent Parish. At the baptism of his son Lars, he is listed as Gaardbestyrer (translates roughly as a farm overseer), which is much better than being a farm worker.
Known children: Lars Nielsen born 30 Apr 1825, at Lynge Parish, Sorø Amt [Amt.= County]., Denmark.
Lars Nielsen & Kirsten Hansdatter Family
Lars Nielsen was born 30th April 1825, at Lynge Parish, Sorø Amt. Denmark. He was baptized at home on May 11th, 1825 and in the church on June 12, 1825. Gaardbestyrer (translates roughly as a farm overseer) Niels Hansen and wife Ane Margrethe Nielsdatter of (illegible location). Lars was carried by a farmer of Lindeberg, Hans Jepsens' wife Ane Lisbeth Hansdatter, farmer Hans Jensen of (illegible location) and farmer Peder Christiansen. He was vaccinated on August 25, 1825 by Wendelboer. Death date is unknown yet.
Kirsten Hansdatter was born on the 29th of November, 1835 at Kirkerup Parish, Sorø Amt., Denmark. Her parents are listed as Hans Christiansen and wife Marie Pedersdatter of Kirkerup. Her father is listed as a farmer at her baptism. The baby (Kirsten) was carried by a servant girl Kathrine Pedersdatter of Vemmeløse. Witnesses were farmer Henrik Pedersen of Gimlinge, Niels Christiansen and bachelor Peder Pedersen of Gimlinge and the servant girl Sophie Pedersdatter of Gimlinge. Death date is unknown yet.

Lars Nielsen, age 44 married, born in Liunge (Lynge), Sorø Parish, is listed as a laborer/ farmer. Kirsten Hansen, age 33, married, born Kirkerup, Sorø Parish, housewife. Children: Hans Petersen Nielsen, age 9 born here, Christian Nielsen, age 5 born here, and Niels Nielsen age 2 born here.
Niels Nielsen & Maren Sofie Jensen Family
Niels Nielsen was born 19th of January 1868 at Town of Vester, Broby Parish, Denmark. Niels Neilsen was christened March 29, 1868. His parents listed were Lars Nielsen and Kirsten Hansen of Braaby on baptism records. He died on the 15th of May 1948, at Kenosha, Wisconsin while visiting his children in the US and died of kidney failure. Niels married Maren Sophie Jensen on the 25th of July 1890 at Alsted Church, Alsted, Sorø, Denmark.
Maren Sofie Jensen was born on the 16th of January 1870, at Slaglille, Denmark. Maren Sofie Jensen was christened in the parish church on February 2, 1870. Her mother was Sidse Marie Andersen, residing with tenant Anders Nielsen in Slaglille, age 21. The named father of Maren was Peder Jensen from Sigersted. The mother worked 10 months before the birth of Maren Sophie on the Jacob Abel Nielsen farm in Sigersted. Maren Sophie Jensen's " surname was listed as Nielsen" [but I have maintained the fathers surname of Jensen on the records].
Else, Karin Thrane and family showed us the house that Sofie and Niels Nielsen lived in Alsted. I have pictures which will post as a link on the right. Maren Sophie died on the 12th of January 1941 at Alsted, Alsted, Sorø Amt., Denmark. She is buried at Pedersborg Cemetery, Sorø, Denmark. Per Else Thrane, daughter of Martha [daughter of Niels Nielsen and Sofie Nielsen]. I remember Niels and Sofie (my grandparents) from my childhood. They were both very nice people. They worked very much. They lived in at little house in Alsted near Sorø. They had a very, very nice garden with a lot of vedgetables and flours. Sofie liked to sell flours to all the naborhood and to the church. As you see they got 7 children, only my mother Martha stayed in Denmark, the others emigrated to America. I have also heard, that it was Otto (Sofies brother in Canada) who got the other children to emigrate. My mother didn´t like to go to America, she was already married at that time, really very early, she was always afraid of sailing.
When my grandfather Niels Nielsen travelled to America, we all joined him to the airport in Copenhagen. My oldest son Tage was only 3 years old at that time. When Niels Nielsen got on the plane, Tage cried: "Have a good travel great grandfather"! Niels Nielsen turned round and waved his walking-stick. My mother Martha took care of Niels Nielsen after the death of Sofie.
