Welcome to Austrian Radle FamilyGenealogy Site

This page details the Radle/Redl/Redle/Raidl family lineage as best we have been able to track it down. Schrems/Neide-Sschrems Austria - Bezirk Gmünd is a district of the state of Lower Austria in Austria. It is located in northwestern Waldviertel. It is very similar to the hills and valleys of Pepin County, WI where many of these Austrian families migrated to.

J. Georg RAIDL/RADEL and Mat/Matthias Radl - Lineage from Austria

Update: Possible parents of Matt Radle, father of Joseph Radle

Upon further searching, I found a new listing on the Mormon website; www.familysearch.org a listing for a Matthias Radle. His wifes birth place is in the same location as the Radle's lived, and Weissing/Weissinger is a common name from this area, as well as Pepin County, so it is a great possibility.

One of the typical Germanic (Includes Austrian) naming conventions was to name your first born son after your father, then second born son after your wifes father, and the same traditions follows for daughters after their mothers.

If Matthias Radle's father was J. Georg RAIDL/RADEL, and the (J) stands for Joseph, and the only known child of Matthias Radle was Joseph Radle who emigrated to the Pepin County area of Wisconsin, this may be a match. More work needs to be done to validate this. It is a good possibility as Sparbach is only about 5-6 kilometers from the Schrems area, and Duras where Joseph was born in about the same distance.

Donna's uncle, Ronald Radle I believe served in the military in Europe and spent a lot of time tracking down the Radle lineage. He told her years ago, the Radles were in the military class, blacksmiths who took care of the cavalry's horses. Many times, military men did not marry till late in life, and as I've learned from other Austrian emigrates, many left Austria because or the forced drafts and many wars of the Austro-Hungarian Empire under Emperior Franz Joseph.
